Greenway Jizera Cycle Path
The Greenway Jizera cycle path is a popular route for nature lovers, history enthusiasts, and those seeking active relaxation. Its section Dolánky – Rakousy – Malá Skála – Líšný was completed and officially opened in 2013, quickly winning the hearts of cyclists, inline skaters, and hikers. The route connects two popular destinations – Dolánky near Turnov and Malá Skála, which are frequent targets for paddlers and excursionists.
The aim of the path is to offer a comfortable and easy journey through the picturesque valley of the Jizera River and to build on the historical role of the river as a natural link between settlements and towns. The landscape through which the path leads was long known mainly to paddlers, but today its beauty can also be discovered by cyclists and walkers. You will pass by blooming meadows, pastures with sheep, and historical buildings that give the valley a unique and poetic touch. Thanks to this, traditions and crafts are still alive here today.
If you plan to paddle the Jizera from Malá Skála to Dolánky, take advantage of the option to rent a scooter and ride back through the entire valley "on your own steam".
Pension Křížky is an ideal starting point for trips around the entire Maloskalsko area. Directly from us, you can set out to Suché skály, Besedice, Vranov Ridge, or Frýdštejn Castle. About 2 km upstream, you will find the popular sports and recreational area Žlutá Plovárna with a rental of boats, paddleboards, scooters. The area also includes courts for volleyball, foot volleyball, beach volleyball, table tennis, a sandbox, and other children's attractions. In the summer months, staying by the river is a pleasant diversion, and there is no shortage of entertainment thanks to cultural events.
From May 2025, the Greenway Jizera cycle path is extended to Železný Brod. Now you can enjoy even longer rides along the banks of the Jizera with beautiful views and stops at places worth visiting.

The surroundings of Pension Křížky are ideal for lovers of nature, history, and traditional architecture. Maloskalsko offers a diverse range of excursion destinations that will delight families with children, tourists, and romantic souls. All within reach on foot, by bike, or by car.
Rock Towns and Natural Scenery
Enter the world of sandstone rocks, mysterious gorges, and viewpoints! Near Pension Křížky lies the rock town Drábovna and Vranov Ridge. Definitely worth a visit are the Suché skály, nicknamed the "Little Dolomites", which are among the most prominent geological formations in the Bohemian Paradise. The nature reserve Klokočské skály is located near Malá Skála above the village of Klokočí and are some of the most impressive sandstone formations in the Bohemian Paradise.
Just a few kilometers from Pension Křížky lies the rock labyrinth Besedické skály. The route through this picturesque and peaceful place is easy and well-marked, suitable even for families with children. In summer, it offers a pleasant coolness, in autumn magical views of the golden leaves.

History and Monuments
History lovers will appreciate a visit to the ruins of Frýdštejn Castle, where impressive rock rooms and a tower with a view of the wide surroundings have been preserved. Directly above Malá Skála is the ruin of the rock castle Vranov-Pantheon, in Turnov you can visit Hrubý Rohozec Castle with an English park. Near Pension Křížky is also the ruin of the rock castle Rotštejn, surrounded by deep forests and sandstone formations. In the forests above Malá Skála, you will also find the lesser-known ruin of Zbirohy Castle.
Folk Architecture and Local Traditions
The region has preserved many examples of folk architecture, especially timbered cottages and farm buildings. We recommend a walk through Malá Skála, where you will find beautiful examples of traditional construction. The most famous is Bouček's Farm with the Josef Jíra Gallery. You can also visit Dlask's Farm in Dolánky near Turnov – an open-air museum with an exhibition of rural life in the 19th century.
